Fans of anime, comics, sci-fi and other pop culture genre headed to Gold Coast Convention centre last weekend for Supanova Pop Culture Expo 2013 Gold Coast.
This was the first time that I ever went to Gold Coast and only the 2nd time the Supanova was held in Gold Coast. The sky was blue and the sun was shining, typical perfect Gold Coast weather. Guest appearances included ‘The Hof’ (David Hasslehoff) Vic Mignogna (FMA voice actor), Yuko Miyamura (Voice of Asuka from Evangelion), and my personal highlight, Mamoru Hosoda, (director of Summer Wars, Girl Who Leapt Through Time).
I myself went up as part of Madman‘s booth team for the convention. (my employer for those who don’t know) Saturday was busy as hell, there were people EVERYWHERE!… but that was actually a good thing, there was a real sense of excitement and buzz in the convention halls. The downside though was that I spent a most of the time on the Saturday behind the booth and didn’t get to roam and take as many pics to show to the rest of the world. But I did get about an hour or so and managed to snap a few people in cosplay. Amongst the costumes I saw that day, there was a fantastic Madoka cosplay, a sister of Battle for 40,000k and Yu-Gi-Oh. Also, I saw Siera from Melbourne at the Gold Coast con, who was the winner of Madman’s MNCC 2013 Melbourne round. (her pictures are the last two in the gallery)
